Something to Chew On: “God Chooses the Little”
Weekly Family Dinner & Prayer
“In the name of the Father, and of the Son…”
Read:
God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong, and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, so that no human being might boast before God.
1 Cor 1:27-29
There is a special place in God’s heart for the weak, the small, the lowly. “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” says Jesus. “Blessed are those who mourn,” he says. “Blessed are the meek,” he says. The very people the world thinks are nothing, these are the people God lifts up and embraces.
Discuss: Instead of constantly seeking to be more important, how can we make ourselves little? Without falsely ignoring God’s many gifts and blessings, how can we remember that the gifts themselves are from God? How can we join ourselves to those who are smaller, weaker, more vulnerable than we are?
